Duchastel

Duchastel de Montrouge — of Reims and Champagne, documented since the 17th century.

Duchastel de Montrouge, of Reims and Champagne. The lineage is documented from Jacques du Chastel (1624–1714), born at Reims.

The name appears in four spellings in the records — du Chastel, Duchastel, Duchatel, Dûchatel — and the family held several estates before settling on de Montrouge. Only a few ever called themselves de Montflambert, after the château that entered the family in 1753; most took de Montrouge, and it is under that name that the family is known.

One branch crossed to Quebec, where it married into the Day, Dion and other families this archive keeps track of.
